When local schools are closed for a Teacher Work Day, BCS offers a safe, productive, and fun day for children to learn, complete schoolwork, practice Chinese and music, and enjoy hands-on activities.

At BCS Learning & Enrichment Day Camp, we want children to spend their day learning, practicing, creating, and having fun while school is closed, and thus letting caregivers reclaim day.

📅 Camp Details
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Blacksburg Chinese School
Tuition: $80/student/day
Tuition Discount
Save 15% on tuition when you book a total of 5 or more camp days for your family in a single transaction.
- Discount applies on tuition only: optional add-ons, e.g., meals and baking class fees, are not eligible for discount.
- Mix and match siblings: You can combine days for multiple children from the same family to reach the 5-day minimum (e.g., 3 days for one child and 2 days for another).
Scenario 1: Bulk Registration (Best Value)
If you register for 5 or more camp days in your very first transaction:
- All days in that initial transaction get 15% off.
- Any future days you add later for the 2026-2027 season, regardless of amount, also get 15% off.
Scenario 2: Incremental Registration
If you buy camp days across multiple transactions, and each individual transaction is under 5 days (but they eventually add up to 5 or more total days):
- The discount is not retroactive to the first 4 days.
- You pay full price for the first 4 camp days overall.
- Every day you purchase starting with the 5th day qualifies for the 15% off discount.

- Kids’ meal: $6
Students are welcome to bring their own lunch instead of choosing one of the meal options offered at BCS.

1. Schoolwork & Homework Help
Students can bring their regular school assignments and receive help from BCS teachers and qualified student helpers.
- Math
- Reading & writing
- Science and social studies
- Projects
- Test preparation
- Other unfinished schoolwork
Students should bring their textbooks, assignments, Chromebook/laptop, and other necessary materials.
2. 🇨🇳 Chinese Homework & Practice
Students can spend time working on their Chinese assignments and improving their Chinese skills.
- Chinese homework
- Reading
- Character writing
- Vocabulary review
- Speaking & conversation
- Chinese games and cultural activities
3. 🎵 Instrument Practice
Students may bring a portable musical instrument and have designated practice time during the day.
Students can work on:
- Assigned pieces
- Practice routines
- Scales
- Music for upcoming performances
4. 🧁 Optional Baking Class — $10
Students can participate in a hands-on baking activity for an additional $10.
Projects may include cookies, cupcakes, bread, Chinese pastries, or seasonal treats.
Baking projects may vary depending on the day.
5. 🎨 Creative & Enrichment Activities
Once students complete their academic goals, they can enjoy a variety of activities:
- Arts & crafts
- Board games
- Puzzles
- Reading
- Chinese games
- Group activities
- Outdoor play, weather permitting
- Other age-appropriate enrichment activities
* Twist: if you have older children (14 years or older) in your family, they may apply to be BCS Day Camp helpers working on those days to gain work experience and earn some money! See the Day Camp Helpers page for details.
